A Mother's Foresight ...

Regret of the day ... or more like of my life: Not learning all the girly skills from mom. Stitching, Cooking, Arts & Crafts ... to name the least. I wish circumstances/life gave me the choice. Even in her final days, while her treatment, she insisted I attend classes with a home tutor.... I was perplexed at that moment - for nursing her to life was my utmost priority.
She always had a great foresight and was the best mom ever...till her dying moment. I love you and sorely miss you mummy.

I will make you proud. I promise. Please forgive me. You know how hectic and difficult our life was ... You are my hero, the way you pulled it all through. I salute you.

I have heard many say “Good Byes are hard” ... I never realized how many versions and circumstances it comes in - the shocking ones, difficult but anticipated ones and then the hopeful ones.

Which is the hardest I wonder. Having experienced them all, I think the anticipated ones would be the most tough one. Reason: The shocking ones (brain tends to block em), the hopeful ones - self explained - the element of hope is a positive one but the anticipated one - like knowing the one thing dear, near, close and much loved is dying and can be taken away from you anytime - has got to be the hardest as it leaves me feeling helpless and in fear.

It was hard today, but I can’t help think that one by one I am loosing ... loosing against life.

Obituary - We LOVE YOU Ma

On behalf of my loving mother Noor Banu, I want to thank you all for all the love, support and care you have extended to me and my family.

I'm attaching this heartfelt obituary of our Ma which was published on behalf of all of us who loved and cared for her.

Till her last breath, she kept asking to see her beloved son-in-law Mushtaq Sarwar, who did so much for her and who she so unconditionally loved but because the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, despite of faxes from the Apollo Hospitals Chairman's Office and inspite of presentation of all medical documents/emails - refused to grant him an emergency visa even at his second attempt inorder to visit her at the hospital, and was helpless and devastated. Alas, mom died calling his name. This is one burden we all carry in our hearts for the rest of our lives as that was her one last dying wish which could not be fulfilled.

As per her Will, services are being held in various locations where the orphans and the poor/needy families are being fed. The Holy Quran is being recited daily alongwith recommended prayers.

Once again, I, Mushtaq, Abu Turab and Mohammed thank you all for supporting us (in so many ways) and for your kind words/notes of consolation (http://efatima.blogspot.com/). Ma has some unfinished drafts in her mailbox to Mr. Rich McMurray, Ms. Kathleen and Mr. Dilawar and Saleem Shaban Family which I will deliver personally.

Memorial day details will be intimated to you in the coming days.

She continues to shine her light in our path and we pray for God to grant us the strength to endure her loss.

Its easy to ignore our emotional and physical health until there's a problem. Most of us wait until its too late. We lead busy, hectic lives putting work or the needs of others before our own self-care. We fill our bodies with fast food tolerate high levels of stress and non-stop on adrenaline. Life the Energizer bunny the body keeps going and going - then one day something goes wrong. We get sick hear the diagnosis of an unexpected illness or notice that we just can't seem to get things done the way we used to. Thats when most of us finally start paying attention to their health. Driving into the sunset with a soothing sounds of ocean, and cool breeze ruffling through my hair brought about such tranquillity. For a few moments my mind was blank - it felt wonderful - to not to have anything to think about. My mind reached its point and it trips. I just wanted my soul to go out of my body and soar gradually - relieving me of pain. anxiety or worry. There's so much that I want to do ... my life currently seems to be in bits spread all over. Its not too far when I will have my chance to put it all together or start fresh. A new life .... a new start.
